The problem

A giant industry, run by hand.

Crews are freelance and booked fast, often for a single day. The work behind every booking still happens in calls and messages.

  1. Group chats and word of mouth

A gaffer for Thursday is found by forwarding a message until someone answers.

  2. Checks take coordination

Confirming who someone is and what they have actually worked on takes calls and references, and a production rarely has the time before the shoot day.

  3. Terms scattered across messages

Rate, dates and responsibilities sit across texts, e-mails and call sheets. When something changes, there is no single version both sides can point to.

  4. Payment follow-ups

Freelancers follow up on invoices after the wrap, and the production keeps a separate paper trail for every hire.

FIXER puts the hire in one place: a verified person, a contract both sides sign in the app, and a payment charged when the offer is accepted and held until the work is delivered. Rate, dates and scope stay on the contract, where both sides can find them.

The product

Two tools, one account.

Hire on a contract, build a profile from your links and clips. Identity, contracts, payments, payouts, disputes and Go bookings sit on one account. Deals are in early access; profiles are open to every member.

DealsEarly access for verified members

Hire on contract. Get paid on delivery.

Post a job, verified talent applies, you send a contract. When the talent accepts, the client's card is charged and FIXER holds the payment until the work is delivered.

  • Signed in the app by both sides, with up to two change requests.
  • Paid out on delivery: when the client confirms, or automatically 14 days after the latest submission, unless changes are requested or a dispute is opened; resubmission restarts the clock.
  • Disputes put the payment on hold until FIXER decides.
  • 15% fee, paid by the client on top. The talent receives the full agreed price.
  • Payments and payouts work for people who have passed full verification. The first ones are going through it now.
A contract in the FIXER web app on a desktop, in the Deals chat with Alex Rivera: Camera operator, 3 shoot days, $1,800, with the line plus $270.00 FIXER service fee (15%) equals $2,070.00 total, and the status Deal Submitted, Contract offer, Contract confirmation, Contract started.
A contract as the client sees it.
ProfileImplemented

A profile drafted from your links and clips.

Paste your links or drop a few clips. FIXER drafts the profile from them: name, professions, city, bio and photo. Nothing is published until you approve it.

  • Import your work from YouTube, Vimeo, an Instagram export or your website.
  • Professions and cities come from FIXER's own lists, so a producer searching for a gaffer in Los Angeles finds you.
  • Show reels, drops and works on one page, with a public card to share.
The drafted profile of a new, fictional member in the FIXER web app on a desktop: a yellow bar says the profile is ready to review and approve, and below it the form filled in from the pasted links, with first and last name, username, city, job titles, price per filming day and a short about text.

Trust

Who is checked, and how.

Anyone can join and look around. Hiring, working and running open only after verification. Here is exactly what each step checks; none of it rates skill or guarantees delivery.

  1. 01Join

Make a profile, show your work, find people and talk. Free, 18+.

  2. 02Identity

A phone code and a card check. ID and live selfie, checked by Stripe Identity in a few minutes; any case Stripe can't settle is reviewed by a FIXER staff member. Required for anyone who hires or works.

  3. 03Companies

A business e-mail on the company's own domain (free e-mail is not accepted) plus the identity of the person who represents it. Individuals who hire for themselves have limits: $2,000 per deal or run, $5,000 per month.

  4. 04Talent & runners

Identity plus the documents the work needs: a payout account for talent; for runners, licence, insurance, vehicle and references, the Runner Agreement, and a review of the documents by FIXER staff.

  • Quality-first feed

The show-reel feed shows work that passes an automated quality check, so a producer scrolls reels, not noise.

  • Contracts and disputes

Both sides sign in the app. Either side can open a dispute before the money is released; FIXER staff decide.

  • Payments through Stripe

Charges, holds and payouts run on Stripe. The 15% fee is shown before anyone commits.

Why now · Why us

Filmmakers who build software.

  • Identity checks take minutes now

Checking every person on a set used to take a back office. Today a government ID and a live selfie are checked by Stripe Identity in minutes.

  • A profile can be drafted from a reel

A profile that took an evening to fill in is drafted from links and clips, so a crew member can be found and hired the day they join.

  • Payments can wait for the work

Stripe lets a marketplace charge the client when the offer is accepted and pay out on delivery, so the freelancer knows the money is there before the first shoot day.
